Where Is Everybody?
Gabriella woke up one morning to find her house unusually quiet. She looked everywhere she could think of but no one was to be found. “Where is everybody?” she asked over and over. Gabriella’s heart was beating faster than a runaway train. She was panicking and sweating like she was about to cry. “What if I never see my family again?” She thought with a tear in view. Gabi sat down on the step and started to cry severely.
Like A Detective
When she ran out of tears, she got up from the step and looked in her mom and dad’s room one more time, to look for clues, like a detective trying to retrace a kidnapper’s steps. Then she saw the broken window and a rope tied to it. “Hmmm, this is interesting,” She said, scratching her head. Gabriella looked down and saw a sign on the ground that wrote: “Kidnapper Broke In”. Then she saw a trail of mud footprints. She didn’t recognise the tracks. “These must belong to the kidnapper.” Gabi thought. Gabriella knew what she needed to do. In a second, Gabi just became a detective.
Where do they lead?
She changed from her sleeping clothes and followed the tracks outside. Then Gabi saw her neighbour. “Excuse me, do you know anything about a kidnapper breaking in our house.” She asked politely. “Yes, I saw someone, but I didn’t recognise who it was. He was heading for a car,” he said. “Can you give me any more details?” She asked writing down some notes. “Yes, the car was black and he seemed to have someone else helping him because he wasn’t driving. They were heading for a achoooo!” He said sneezing. Then she saw a picture fall out of his pocket. It was very blurry. She could hardly see anything in it. “What’s this?” Gabi asked picking it up. “It’s a picture of where they were heading.” “It was towards the forest in… that direction,” he exclaimed pointing left. “I tried to call the police but by the time I got back… they were gone.” “It’s okay.” She replied. “Can you give me a lift please?” “Of course I can. Get in my car,” he said. Gabi hopped in and theydrove off. Gabi had a feeling she would find her family, somehow.
More clues
Her neighbour dropped her off in front of the forest and she walked in gradually. Owls hooted, trees swayed, wolves howled, plants and bushes grew wild. Thorns were pricking her trying to get her blood. Gabi pushed the thorns out of her path getting scrapes and bruises along the way, but she didn’t care, she was determined to find her family. In the distance, she saw a small hide away. As Gabi neared the building, she heard a sound that startled her . “Ha, Ha, HA! You’ll never escape!” shouted a voice she wasn’t familiar with. Gabi rushed forward and found herself in front of an abandoned hut. It was covered with bark, leaves and grass. “No wonder no one can find them,” she thought. “It’s almost invisible.” Gabi quickly phoned the police. When they arrived, she told them her plan. They agreed. “Let’s do it!” they said excitedly.
The Rescue
Gabriella stormed into the hut. “What do you think you’re doing with my family?” she shouted. “Gabi, hooray!” Her family cheered. “Let’s get out of here!” one of the kidnappers said, with fear in his voice. “What do you mean? It’s two against one,” the other one responded. ”Not anymore.” The police exclaimed, stepping in. The police captured them and took them to their police car. “Thank you, young lady. You were very brave to go after these trouble makers,” they said. “You’re welcome.” Gabi replied. “I’m just glad my family is safe.” The police was so impressed they gave her one thousand pounds and helped pay for their broken window! Her mom and dad were very grateful. The window was even able to be replaced in one day! As Gabi cuddled up in her cosy bed, she was happy to have her family back. And amazed at how the kidnappers didn’t capture her! Guess the hut wasn’t the only thing invisible!
Uh oh!
“Brrrrring!” Gabi’s alarm went off which startled her. “Phew, just a dream.” she said, relieved. “Hey, where is everybody?” she asked, looking in everyone’s room. Then she saw a broken window and a rope tied to it. “Uh oh!” she gulped.
