Who’s Cake?
Alexander had just come home from playing football when he saw his mom going in the direction of the kitchen. “Hello mom, are you going to make something?” he asked, putting his backpack down. “Yes, a lemon sponge cake.” His mom said while putting on an apron. “My favourite, can I help?” he asked, rubbing his tummy. “Of course you can, it would be nice to have an extra hand. But first go get some clean clothes.” His mom said, looking at his sweaty shirt. “Okay Mom.” He rushed upstairs and quickly took a bath but little did he know who the cake was for.
What’s got into them?
Alex came downstairs and saw his brother carrying a small pack of balloons. “What are those for bro?” he asked. “Oh, nothing?” his brother said, hiding the balloons behind his back. “Okay?” Alex said, with a suspicious look. “What’s got into him?” he thought. Alex headed toward the kitchen to see his mom taking out the ingredients. “Well that’s a lot better,” His Mom said, “Get an apron and let’s get started.” “Okay, and mom I saw Benjamin with balloons!” he exclaimed. “Well maybe you just imagined it,” said his Mom. “But mom they all had the number 12 on them.” he said putting on his apron. “Now Alex, we can talk more about that another time”. His mommy said with a stern look. “Okay,” he sighed.
Process of cake
After they got out the water and cake mix, they started to add the ingredients. First his mom added the cake mix into the bowl and added the water. Alex then mixed it all together with a wooden spoon. After about twenty minutes or so the cake batter was ready for the pan. They greased the pan with coconut butter and floured it, then put the mixture into the pan. They put it in the oven to bake and put the kitchen timer on 30 minutes. Alex’s mouth was tingling with excitement. He couldn’t wait to eat that cake. But who was it for?
Huh?
While the cake was baking he saw his sister with presents. “Who are those for sis?” he asked. “Oh, no one!” she said trying to run away. “Okay?” he said with a questioning look. “What’s got into her?” he thought. “Brrrring!” The kitchen timer alarmed. “Let’s take the cake out of the oven,” said his Mommy, “Thanks for your help.” “But I want to help decorate it.” he said with disappointment in his voice. “I’ll take it from here; you can go play in your room,” his mom said. So he went to his room and read some books.
Ohhh!
“Balloons, presents, cake! Why does that remind me of something?” Alex thought. Then the door opened, his little sister was coming inside his room. “Alexander can you help me with something in the living room?” She asked shyly. “Sure, I was getting bored anyway,” said Alex following her downstairs. “It’s strangely quiet.” he thought to himself. Alex went into the living room when he heard, “Surprise, Happy Birthday!” Everyone cheered. “WOW!” he said as his mouth dropped open. Banners and pictures were in every direction then his mom came forward with the cake. “I was helping with my own cake?” He gasped. “It was the only way to keep you busy.” His mom said. “Come on birthday boy,” his brother called, “Party time!” That would be a birthday to remember.
